Level Designer

Open position:

Level Designer

Please join us in shaping the mathemagical world where children can practice and master maths!

Part-time or full-time position in Lund, Sweden or remotely.

Someone neatly stated that there is nothing more powerful in the world than a good story. A good story can travel across the world, bring smiles to faces of people you’ve never met, captivate minds and spark imagination that can last a lifetime. It brings people together and it becomes larger than life itself. So, why is math teaching in school not story-driven? We don’t have the answer, but we for sure want to make it so.

We are developing a learning game called Count on me! where the child takes the role of a hero – a young mathemagician – who is sent on an important mission to restore order in the realm of Numberia. We are looking for a level designer to join our team.

Are you a level designer and find yourself intrigued by games for learning? If so, you might be just the person we are searching for!

We are a small indie studio located in the heart of Lund, surrounded by cobblestone streets, coffee shops and a smell of fresh bagels in the morning. As a small team, we work closely and share perspectives from our different backgrounds and cultures, bringing game design, tech, design and learning psychology to the table.

The role – Level designer

In this role, you will design environments that support the narrative and outline quest flows that guide users to next objectives and keep them interested in what’s next. Together with fellow narrative designers and artists, you will create an adventure that makes learning a memorable experience.

Our product development is iterative and we rely heavily on rapid prototyping for testing new designs and evaluating the user experience. We work closely with partner schools to get real user feedback from our target groups that consist of 7-9-year-old children and their respective parents and teachers.

  • Design levels based using multi-layered tilemaps in Unity
  • Working iteratively, from early level sketches to complete levels
  • Implementing quests in the level editor, including dialogues, NPC behaviours and events

  • A passion for games and environments
  • An interest in games for children
  • A structured mind for working with large numbers of assets in a manageable way
  • Level design education or equivalent work experience is a plus
  • Experience from working with Unity is a plus
The position is planned to start as soon as possible.
